GWTF Elves Festive Food Swap #2

SAUSAGE ROLLS!

One of the main foods you will see served up over the festive season are sausage rolls (They even have two Christmas Number 1 songs about them!)

But they are often high in calories, saturated fats & salt as well as containing red meat....

SO

The GWTF Elves are going to share their solution to this & they're sure it's going to be a massive hit when you share it with family & friends......

CHICKEN & CARAMELISED ONION SAUSAGE ROLLS

You Will Need:

1 Pack Of Ready Rolled Light Puff Pastry

12 Chicken Sausages

4 Tbsp of Caramelised Onion Chutney

Large Baking Tray

Mixing Bowl

Method:

Prepare your pastry as instructed on the packaging- Removing from the fridge to heat to room temperature etc

Remove the skin from the sausages & place the sausage meat into a bowl. Mix the sausage meat together to combine it all & then stir in the chutney

Once your pastry is ready, place on a baking tray (your pastry should already be on a greaseproof paper sheet). Divide the pastry & sausage meat into two & then create a "sausage" of the meat about 1 1/2 inches from the edge of each slice of pastry.

Coat the edge of the pastry with a little bit of milk/egg & then carefully fold the edge of the pastry over the top of the sausage meat to join the other side & knock the two edges together to seal. Repeat with the other slice of pastry.

Gently prick holes all over the pastry with a fork & if you wish, coat with a wash of milk/egg to give the pastry a golden colour once cooked.

Place in a preheated oven (temp as instructed on your pastry) & cook for around 20-25 mins. Once cooked, remove from the oven and leave to cool before slicing up.

ENJOY! & MERRY CHRISTMAS
